This year, I also became a paid subscriber and I enjoy your blog posts very much. I started reading your blog articles since your early blogging days on macroeconomics. However, Noahopinion is a significant improvement and I wish you much success for the future. I am looking forward for more daily analysis.

Best greetings from Germany

Dimitri

Thanks for doing what you do, Noah. You represent a portion of the public not well served by modern journalism.

I share your optimism for the near future. I live in Arkansas, which is very red but traditionally Democratic. I think a healthy debate between conservatives and liberals about how to move forward will be beneficial. That wasn’t possible in the Trump days, maybe if we evolve past the division with a new batch of leaders we will get it in the 2024 election cycle.

Maybe that’s a tad too optimistic, but what we saw this month in the midterms gave me hope.

A good review. BUT I suggest that you look a bit more closely at the hydrogen economy part. My brother developed a number of hydrogen powered ideas over three decades ago (including separating hydrogen from water, in of all places, a desert in CA). There is a serious problem about that idea that I have not seen discussed.

It is that the H2 molecule is one of the smallest molecules on earth, if not the smallest. Consequently most valves in our distribution system are not geared to avoid leakage of a potentially explosive amount to the passing fuel. Have you seen any discussion about this as a problem, or about any solution that has been proposed and implemented?

Noah, really enjoy the content, keep up the good work! I've used some of your insights in the classroom, especially when talking about venture capital, which students seem to really enjoy.

It might be interesting to add Lyn Alden to your reading list. Her perspective is that rising debt means you can't raise interest rates enough to crush inflation - closer to the 40’s than the 70’s

Thankyou for your Substack and the incredible range of topics you cover.

There are one or two writers - you, Derek Thompson, James Fallows, Ta-ha Nesi Coates, (if he ever writes again) Ben Thompson, Adam Tooze, Rebecca Traister - who I read assiduously and consistently marvel at the breadth of their interests, perceptiveness of their insights and clarity of their prose.

One article I would appreciate from you is more a “how do you do it?” Type article. How do you stay atop all the information, process it and decide on what to focus.

In re your October 4 column concerning nuclear energy, green-washing nuclear power is the greatest unforced error of the New Millennium. It’s both irresponsible and unnecessary. We pillory anti-vaxxers and give a pass to those who think we can safely contain, manage plutonium for 200,000 years? Both camps are science-deniers.

Hey Noah, I've been following you since the blogspot days and you're still one of my favorite people on the internet. I don't comment much because I tend to be pretty negative and your content is so positive most of the time. Anyway, I was obnoxious on Twitter the other day and you blocked me. Any chance begging will convince you to unblock me?
