My impression is that it takes about 30 years for a breakthrough in biology research to go from "newspaper article about a big discovery" to "something your doctor can use to treat a disease". Is this correct, and if it is, can it be sped up?

As a 68 yr old S.B. physics..businessman..I love this!!! Go try !

I say...... "You Limit Yourself" !

...have resolve.

This will sound a bit arrogant but.. over my technical lifetime.... very little is "new". Had a PC in 76..on... cell phone mid 80s. Internet and email in 72...geek school.

I think "new" fundamental science is in a slow period. Literally most tech is built on semiconductors..1949..derived from simple quantum mechanics..1920s. Afterwards its all good but..derived and infinitely improved technologies.

The human body... mRNA, CRISPR.. I do think are on the final frontiers left. But they won't create a lot jobs. Climate...Power...storage...transportation I think have great futures for derived and improved technologies in design and manufacturing.

What's holding you gentlemen back? Carpe Diem. We need you
